Steven Gerrard has emerged as the new favourite to become the next Rangers manager.
Ibrox chiefs are looking for a new boss after Russell Martin was sacked on Sunday night following a 1-1 draw against Falkirk.
Kevin Muscat had been the early frontrunner to become Rangers manager as he surged to the top of the odds list.
However, things have now shifted towards a possible return to Rangers for Gerrard as his odds have dropped to 11/8 with William Hill.
It comes after former Rangers chairman Dave King backed a potential return for Gerrard.
In an exclusive interview with STV, King said: “I would love to see Steven back at the club. Steven is a winner and will get more out of the squad than we have witnessed so far.
“We have been watching a team that doesn’t seem to have a plan for what to do when in possession and when out of possession, and Steven would quickly sort that out.
“I believe he has unfinished business after being forced out by Douglas Park when he was on track to win 56.
“I think he can get more out of the present squad reasonably quickly and get back to winning ways.”
Sean Dyche is second with the bookies at 6/4 with Muscat just further back priced at 5/1 to land the Rangers job.
Hearts boss Derek McInnes is at 8/1 with Rafa Benitez offered at odds of 9/1 for punters.
Barry Ferguson is further back, listed as a 20/1 shot to become the next permanent Rangers manager.
