Rene Hake remains the bookies' favourite to become the next Heart of Midlothian manager.
Tynecastle officials held talks with the former Manchester United and Feyenoord coach in London last week.
However, a new name has entered the fold with Maarten Martens, most recently at AZ Alkmaar, one of a number of candidates interviewed for the position.
Hearts chiefs are keen to appoint a new head coach this week ahead of players returning to training on Thursday and the warm-weather camp in Spain next Monday.
Discussions are still taking place following a board meeting over the weekend, with Martens one of those names considered.

Despite the emergence of Martens, Hake remains the favourite at 1/2 to become the new head coach of Hearts, according to BetVictor.
However, Martens' name was only revealed as a candidate on Monday afternoon, having not been listed in any odds lists prior to that.
Dick Schreuder is the second favouirte with bookmakers at 4/1. Robbie Keane, who recently left his post at Ferencvaros, is the third favourite at 8/1. He had been linked with the Celtic job before Martin O'Neill was given the role on a permanent basis.
Former Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior would be a shock appointment and is priced at 12/1 alongside Damien Duff and Scott Parker.
Among the outsiders in the betting lists are former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard at 16/1, John Terry at the same price and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at 20/1.
