Latest Newcastle United injury news and their prospects of facing West Ham

Newcastle United have injury doubts over four players heading into their clash with West Ham at St James’ Park on Sunday.

The Toon are bang in-form and are unbeaten in the Premier League since the resumption just over a fortnight ago, their only defeat since the restart has come in the FA Cup as they were beaten by Man City.

Steve Bruce’s men come into Sunday’s matchup with the Hammers on the back of a 4-1 tonking of Bournemouth in midweek to plunge their Cherries further into relegation woe while West Ham beat Chelsea 3-2 at London Stadium.

Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin bagged three assists against Bournemouth as goals from Dwight Gayle, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almiron and Valentino Lazaro put Eddie Howe’s side to the sword in their own backyard.

Goalscorer Longstaff though is one of the players who is a doubt for Sunday’s game at St James’ Park as he picked up problem during the victory on the south coast, with Bruce saying: "Sean has got a hamstring injury unfortunately which is a blow because it was as good as I've seen him look."

Defender Javier Manquillo, who has started all four games since the restart for Newcastle, is also a doubt for the Hammers’ visit with a muscle strain which forced him off 15 minutes from time against Bournemouth.

Definitely out of the game for the Toon is centre back Florian Lejeune with a thigh injury and fears he could miss the remainder of the season as a result of the injury picked up in training before the resumption of the top flight. Likewise Ciaran Clark, who has had an operation on his ankle and is out for the season.

For West Ham, there is still an injury doubt over Sebastien Haller after his hip injury though he could return this weekend.

Mark Noble missed out against Chelsea with a slight hamstring problem, while Arthur Masuaku has recovered from a twisted ankle but Robert Snodgrass will miss out with a back problem.

David Moyes will give the latest injury news when he holds his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game this afternoon (Friday) at 1.30pm from Rush Green.
