As college football’s regular season wraps up, Seattle Seahawks fans can look forward to watching top prospects in their bowl games and speculating which of them will be selected by their favorite team in the upcoming 2020 NFL draft.
This week, the season-ending injury to Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa shook things up and made several writers across the country rethink their 2020 NFL draft predictions, leading to a slew of new mocks – let’s see which of college football’s best might be available when Seattle is on the clock next year.
Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News
Round 1, Pick 24: C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida
6-foot-1, 202 pounds
2019 stats: 26 TT (20 solo), 10 PD, 1 sack
Iyer: “The Seahawks, two years removed from losing Richard Sherman, still need to get better at cornerback. Henderson plays bigger than he is with great athleticism and technique in his favor. He just needs to get a little more physical to be trusted against receivers who rely on body positioning to get open.”
Ryan Phillips, The Big Lead
Round 1, Pick 29: Raekwon Davis, DT, Alabama
6 foot 7, 312 pounds
2019 stats: 37 TT (11 solo), 0.5 sack
Phillips: “The Seahawks have a number of defensive linemen slated to hit free agency this offseason and will need an infusion of talent. Davis is huge at 6-foot-7 and 312 pounds, but is also super strong and can disrupt the interior of an offensive line with ease. There’s a lot more potential to be unlocked here as well.”
Luke Easterling, DraftWire; Tyler Roman, NBC Sports
Round 1, Pick 28: Paulson Adebo, CB, Stanford
6-foot-1, 190 pounds
2019 stats: 33 TT (23 solo), 10 PD, 4 INT
Easterling: “The Seahawks have a type when it comes to corners, and Adebo is the perfect fit with his combination of size, length and physicality. The ‘Legion of Boom’ rebuild is still underway, and this pick would go a long way toward completing it.”
Roman: “The Seahawks have a good one in CB Shaquill Griffin but they need a quality CB on the other side if they want to get back to the defense they once were a few years back. Adebo is a former WR who’s made the transition to CB look easy. His history at WR shows in his ball skills.”
Andrew DiCecco, Pro Football Network
Round 1, Pick 28: Julian Okwara, EDGE, Notre Dame
6-foot-4, 248 pounds
2019 stats: 18 TT (8 solo), 4 sack, 2 FF
DiCecco: “With the offensive side of the ball nearly set, the focus shifts to rebuilding the defense to resemble the ‘Legion of Boom’ days. Okwara is a long, wiry edge rusher that will complement Jadeveon Clowney, Ziggy Ansah, and L.J. Collier. He’ll need to add some weight to his 248-pound frame, but with the talent in front of him, he will likely be a key rotational pass rusher in sub-packages as a rookie.”
