Latest mock draft refuels Dolphins’ offense with 3 star additions

The latest mock draft produced by USA Today’s Draft Wire is enough to get the hearts of Dolphins fans everywhere racing. Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling committed to overhauling the Dolphins offensive depth chart with each of Miami’s first three selections. But it wasn’t just the picks that command excitement, there’s familiarity and chemistry with the players being added to the pool.

Miami selected 1st, 16th and 18th in the mock — the order was decided by the most recent set of Super Bowl odds. And with those three selections, the Dolphins were mocked Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama WR Henry Ruggs III and Wisconsin IOL Tyler Biadasz. Here’s what Easterling had to say about each:

1. Tua Tagovailoa | QB | Alabama

The “Tank for Tua” hype is real, both in terms of NFL teams and Tagovailoa’s performance through the early weeks of the season. The Dolphins are still the early favorites to land this year’s top pick, and Tagovailoa is still the no-brainer pick at this point.

16. Henry Ruggs III | WR | Alabama

If you’ve watched any Alabama football over the last two years, you’ve seen the Tagovailoa/Ruggs combo do some serious damage. Adding a pass-catcher with Ruggs’ rare speed and impressive chemistry with your quarterback would be huge for this rebuild.

18. Tyler Biadasz | OL | Wisconsin

The early focus for the Dolphins has to be surrounding their new quarterback with as much help as possible. That starts up front, and adding one of the most polished prospects in the entire draft would be a no-brainer. Biadasz is a Day 1 starter who could anchor that unit for the next decade.

There’s of course great chemistry between Tagovailoa and Ruggs, but don’t sleep on the value of reuniting former Wisconsin Badger and 2019 3rd-round pick Michael Deiter with his former teammate in Biadasz. This would be an ideal unfolding of picks for the Dolphins, especially if an offensive tackle is available for the picking at 33 overall.
