Latest mock draft has Cardinals selecting premier RB in 1st round of 2021 draft

The Arizona Cardinals are just one quarter into the season but the college football season is in full swing for most conferences so far. We can start looking ahead to the draft in 2021 and who might be players the Cardinals could add.

In Draft Wire managing editor Luke Easterling’s new mock draft of the first round, the Cardinals land a dynamic player who would be fun to watch in the years to come.

Based on their record, they would have the 15th overall pick and Easterling has them selecting Clemson star running back Travis Etienne.

Kenyan Drake doesn’t have a long-term extension, so the Cardinals could be in the market for a versatile, explosive back next offseason. Etienne would be the perfect fit, and his big-play ability would add yet another dynamic wrinkle to one of the NFL’s most entertaining offenses with Kyler Murray and company.

Drake isn’t likely going to be brought back long-term. The Cardinals like Chase Edmonds and believe he can be a starting running back but he will also enter the final year of his contract next year. 2020 seventh-round pick Eno Benjamin has yet to be active for a game this season.

Other players on the board are a couple of cornerback prospects and an interior offensive lineman. Both are positions that will be needs after this season.

Etienne would be a fantastic addition to the Cardinals offense.
