Latest Liam Cooper injury update ahead of Leeds United's clash with Cardiff City

Marcelo Bielsa has provided a positive injury update on Leeds United captain Liam Cooper ahead of Saturday's match against Cardiff City.

The skipper has missed Leeds last two games, although they managed to maintain their winning run in his absence whilst also keeping clean sheets in the 2-0 victories over Huddersfield Town and Hull City.

Cooper has been struggling with a calf strain in recent weeks, although was fit enough to feature in the first five victories of the Whites' current seven-match winning streak.

Gaetano Berardi put in a good performance alongside Ben White in Tuesday's victory over Hull, but he might be back on the bench as the Leeds manager gave a positive hint that Cooper will be fit enough to return.

He didn't confirm whether Cooper would be starting either way, but suggested that his recovery is going well and didn't rule out a return to Saturday's first XI.

"Cooper is much better," said Bielsa in his pre-match press conference.

"If there is any risk that he's not 100%, we're not going to consider him."
