Latest Leicester City managerial hunt could impact Leeds United's plans for next season

Leicester City are yet to make a managerial decision ahead of their return to the Championship next season. Like Leeds United, the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League and are preparing for life in the second tier.

However, Leicester have not yet confirmed the future of boss Dean Smith who was appointed on a deal until the end of last season, tasked with keeping the Foxes in the top flight. The 52-year-old took nine points from his final eight games in charge but finished two points from safety.

Smith has promotion experience on his CV with Aston Villa but was dismissed by Norwich City after a poor start to their Championship campaign last year. Leicester Live claims Smith has held talks with the Foxes' hierarchy last week, but no decision has been made.

Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard - both of whom have been linked with Leeds United - have also been linked with the vacant managerial role at the King Power. Former Leicester city boss Brendan Rodgers is on the Whites' hit list, but there are question marks over his willingness to step down to the Championship.

A left-field link for both Leeds and Leicester, is former Club Brugge boss Carl Hoefkens after impressing with the Belgian side in the Champions League last season. The 44-year-old took his side to the last 16 of the tournament for the first time in their history after finishing above both Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid in their group.

However, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims that City have held discussions with Hoefkens about taking over at the King Power, while links to Elland Road have fallen quiet in recent weeks. The Belgian was linked with a move to Leeds following Jesse Marsch's departure last season, but the Foxes appear to be ahead of the Whites in the race to sign him.
