Latest Leeds United transfer rumours: Whites dealt Simeone blow, Reading issue Olise stance

For Leeds United, the 2020 summer transfer window will live long in the memory.

After gaining promotion back to the Premier League, the Whites were determined to mark their return to the top-flight in style.

Whilst the club was keen to bolster their youth ranks with the next intake of exciting talent, including the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, Andrea Radrizzani did everything within his power to ensure Marcelo Bielsa had the best possible options available to him at first-team level to make the most of Leeds' return to the Premier League.

The likes of Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Rodrigo all arrived in big-money deals, meaning the Italian businessman may not be able to loosen the purse strings once again in January.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of the very latest Leeds transfer news.

Robinson backs Dortmund striker for Premier League move

Former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson “would love” to see Erling Haaland at Elland Road – but he expects the Borussia Dortmund striker to join Real Madrid, Barcelona or a top-six Premier League side.

Haaland, who has taken his game to the next level since joining Dortmund earlier this year, was born in Leeds as his father, Alf-Inge Haaland, used to play for the Whites.

Robinson told Football Insider : “One day, we will see Erling Haaland in the Premier League, without a shadow of a doubt.

“I would love it to be at Leeds, where he grew up watching his dad play.

“I think Dortmund was a stepping stone before a move to the Premier League.”

Leeds’ move for Argentine forward unlikely to happen

Reported Leeds target Giovanni Simeone has no intention of leaving Cagliari – and believes he may be in the form of his life.

Striker Simeone, the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, has been linked with a move to Elland Road since last month when the Italian side’s president Tomasso Guilini confirmed Leeds’ interest in the 25-year-old forward.

The Argentine has reached double figures in three of the last four Serie A seasons and looks well-placed to beat his career-best tally of 14.

“I live in a wonderful place where the sea, the people and the city help you live with great serenity,” Simeone told Corriere dello Sport .

“Here, everything makes you want to stay.”

Guilini told Italian outlet TMW the fact that Leeds made their move for Simeone late in the transfer window meant Cagliari were never going to let him go.

Whites dealt Olise blow

Another player Leeds are allegedly interested in will not leave his club this season.

According to Football League World , Reading’s attacking midfielder Michael Olise has

attracted attention from the Whites, as well as Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

It was reported that the 18-year-old has a release clause of £8million, but it is believed that the Royals – who have had an impressive start to the campaign – have no plans to offload the Frenchman in the upcoming transfer window.

Olise, who had stints at Chelsea and Manchester City’s academy, was picked up by Reading two years ago and has since become a valuable member of their side.
