Latest Leeds United transfer rumours: Rangers to hijack deal, Clarke linked with Celtic move

Leeds United are currently top of the Championship table and have the best chance of being promoted back to the Premier League since their relegation in 2003.

However, with the EFL season, as well as the Premier League campaign, currently on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, their chances of promotion remain uncertain.

The Whites are still being linked with players from across Europe, though, with Marcelo Bielsa having half an eye on adding to his squad for next season.

Here, we have gathered some of the latest rumours surrounding Leeds.

Rangers swoop to hijack transfer

Rangers have moved in an attempt to hijack Leeds United's push to sign Linfield sensation Charlie Allen by offering a contract to the teenager, Football Insider reports.

The 16-year-old has caught the eye with the Northern Ireland side, earning trials with Tottenham and Manchester City, and Leeds have been reported to be leading the hunt.

However, Scottish giants Rangers have made a move and are keen to bring Allen to the club, beating the likes of Leeds and Premier League clubs to his services.

Rangers could take advantage of a Scottish law that allows players to sign a professional deal at the age of 16, a year earlier than in England.

Douglas backed for Leeds exit

Former Scotland international Alan Hutton has tipped Barry Douglas to leave Elland Road in the next transfer window in hunt of more regular first-team opportunities.

Leeds are reported to be open to offers for the 30-year-old, who has caught the interest of Scottish clubs, and Hutton believes he could be on the way out.

“He went to Leeds with a big expectation and it’s not worked for him. Yes, he’s had a few injuries and stuff but he’s possibly third choice now," he told Football Insider.

“If Leeds go up, he’s not playing at the moment, is he going to play in the Premier League? I wouldn’t have thought so, therefore it’s possibly time to move on and he’ll be trying to make that right decision for his playing career.”

Rangers eye Jack Clarke

Sticking with the Scottish theme to today's rumours, Celtic are keen on signing former Leeds United winger Jack Clarke in the next transfer window.

Spurs secured the services of the talented attacker last summer but he was loaned back to the Whites, although that deal was cut-short in January due to a lack of playing opportunities.

He has since moved on loan to QPR and Celtic, who were unsuccessful in their attempts to secure his signature in January, will revive their interest, Football Insider states.

Clarke has had just 276 minutes of first-team action this season and Celtic believe they can offer more regular playing opportunities next season.
