There’s no shortage of players being linked with a move to Leeds United this summer as the club prepare for their return to the Premier League.
The White are of course back in the top flight for the first time in 16 years, and they’ll be aiming to establish themselves back among some of the country’s top teams.
That means Marcelo Bielsa is set for a big summer as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season starting on September 12.
Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip coming out of Elland Road.
Chelsea deal blow in White race
Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Ben White this summer in what could be another blow to Leeds’ hopes of signing the defender.
The defender is subject to plenty of transfer speculation this summer, with Leeds keen to secure his services after impressing on loan from Brighton last season.
But the Blues could well scupper those plans, with Frank Lampard’s side planning to hijack Liverpool’s move for the 22-year-old according to the Daily Star.
Brighton are thought to have slapped a £40million price tag on White, with Liverpool poised to make an opening bid of £20million, and Chelsea are prepared to better anything that’s put on the table.
Cavani set for Benfica move
Edinson Cavani moving to Elland Road this summer has always seemed a bit ambitious, and it seems Leeds will be missing out on the former PSG striker.
Cavani is a free agent after being released by the French champions, and had been linked with a move to the Premier League with the Whites.
According to some reports, Leeds had made contact with the striker over a possible move, amid plenty of interest from elsewhere in Europe.
But Record in Portugal have reported that the Uruguay international is instead set to make the move to Benfica, having lowered his wage demands.
Edouard is Whites’ number one target
The Sunday Mirror report that Leeds have made Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard their number one target up front this summer.
They state that Marcelo Bielsa was planning on making a move for the Frenchman if his side won promotion to the Premier League, and having now won the Championship title, has made him his top priority.
Edouard is thought to cost around £20million – twice what Celtic paid for him two years ago – after a prolific couple of seasons up in Scotland.
The striker scored a hat-trick in Celtic’s first game of the new season as they beat Hamilton 5-1, taking his tally up to 65 goals in 127 games for the Hoops.
