Latest Leeds United transfer rumours: Foyth links continue, Ayala update, Liverpool eye Brennan

This week's return to training has not stopped Leeds United preparing for next season.

The Whites have been linked with numerous players ahead of this summer's transfer window, despite it still being unknown which league they will be in.

Here is the latest Leeds United transfer rumours.

Foyth links continue

Rumours linking Leeds with a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth have strengthened further.

The Whites are longtime admirers of the 22-year-old, who has struggled for first-team football at Spurs following a 2017 move from Estudiantes.

It now transpires that Marcelo Bielsa previously tried to sign Foyth when he was in charge of Lille in 2017.

Argentine outlet Infocielo report that physical coach Gabriel Macaya, who worked under Bielsa at the French club, has revealed that, having played for Estudiantes, he has good contacts to the player, which almost led to a move to Lille.

He said: "Although I didn't work with Foyth, I did have to correlate with the professionals who had him in Estudiantes.

"I had to follow him when he played at Pincha, and he was very close to coming to France with us."

Ayala latest

Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala's future remains uncertain, according to his wife.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Elland Road and is out of contract at the end of the season.

With Boro trying to cut costs, Ayala could well be available on a free transfer, and, in an Instagram Q&A, his wife admitted the future is currently unclear.

She said: "I knew this question would be the most asked but at the moment we don't know anything yet.

"It's no secret Daniel's contract ends this summer but that wasn't the reason we left our house up north.

"We had outgrown the house so we decided we would come back down south and look for a new house maybe closer to Yarm if Daniel gets a new contract."

Liverpool join race for young winger

Liverpool have joined Leeds United and Brighton in the race for Luke Brennan, according to Football Insider.

The 18-year-old Blackburn Rovers winger is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Premier League leaders now hot on the trail of him.

It remains to be seen whether Brennan would be more interested in joining a club where there is a clear path from the academy to the first team, however.

With Leeds having shown a strong track record of introducing youngsters into their senior set-up, the Whites may well fancy their chances of signing Brennan should he want first-team football.

Brennan has caught the eye with performances in Blackburn's under-18s and under-23s, having also helped Rovers to this season's FA Youth Cup semi-final.
