Latest Leeds United transfer rumours: Emiliano Martinez eyed, Rico Henry competition

Leeds United are now back in the big time and that just became a little more real thanks to the fixture release this morning.

Liverpool is first up for the Whites on September 12 at Anfield but before that date the club has the big matter of improving their squad during the summer transfer window.

Marcelo Bielsa and the club’s board are now tasked to build a squad capable of staying in England’s top-tier, which has proved difficult for some teams in the past.

It’s unsurprising that the Whites have been linked with a host of new players to help them bolster their squad for the upcoming season.

With that being said, here are the very latest Leeds-related transfer rumours from today.

The ultimate lowdown on Rodrigo

Martinez eyed

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly interested in bringing Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to Elland Road this summer.

Martinez was also given a start in Saturday's Community Shield against Liverpool, but question marks still linger about his long-term future with the club.

Arsenal are believed to be prepared to sell the 27-year-old this summer, and according to the Daily Mail, via Sports Mole, Leeds are weighing up a move in the coming weeks.

Brighton enter Henry race

Brighton have entered the race for Brentford star Rico Henry, according to local reports.

Henry is attracting interest from three clubs, including Leeds United and Aston Villa.

The left-back impressed for Brentford last season as they missed out on promotion in the play-off final.

Kent warning

Former Leeds defender Danny Mills has questioned whether the club should pursue a move for Ryan Kent after landing Valencia striker Rodrigo Moreno.

Mills believes the club will be wary of not spending too much money on new acquisitions in the one window.

"You are talking about another wide player that possibly can score goals," Mills told Sky Sports. "It would still be a little bit of a gamble, he's not proven in the Premier League as yet.

"Also how much money have Leeds got to spend, how much do they want to spend? Do they want Rodrigo and then do they want Ryan Kent and then do they want somebody else and do they need a centre-half.

"Suddenly you are getting upwards north of £60-70 million. I'm not sure Leeds want to go that far."
