Latest Leeds United transfer rumours: Jean-Kevin Augustin rejected Man United, Jarrod Bowen blow

Leeds United's wait to bolster their forward line came to an end on Monday as the club

After Arsenal decided to recall Eddie Nketiah from his loan spell at Elland Road early, Leeds have been desperate to add a new face to their attacking ranks in a bid to boost their promotion aspirations.

And Marcelo Bielsa's wait for that wish to come true finally ended today as the Whites concluded a deal for Augustin, who could join the Whites on a permanent basis in the summer should promotion be achieved.

Augustin becomes Leeds' third addition of the January transfer window, following goalkeeper Elia Caprille and young winger Ian Poveda through the door at Elland Road.

So, with Leeds finally securing a striker, plus the importance of preparing for a Championship clash with Millwall on Tuesday evening, we've rounded up all the day's latest Leeds United transfer news.

United chased Augustin

Manchester United made a late bid to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin from Leeds United.

The 22-year-old signed for the Whites on Monday for the remainder of the season, with Leeds holding the option to buy.

However, reports from The Athletic now claim that United made a late attempt to sway Augustin to Old Trafford.

Augustin, though, was convinced about joining Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United and turned down any talks.

Leeds to challenge Championship promotion rivals for Cameroon defender

Leeds are poised to battle it out with fellow Championship title hopefuls West Bromwich Albion to try and land Saint Etienne defender Harold Moukoudi.

French publication L'Equipe are reporting that both Leeds and the Baggies are keeping tabs on the Cameroon international, 22.

It is thought that the defender, who is also claimed to be wanted by Premier League side Burnley, would be available on loan.

The centre-back only joined Saint Etienne from fellow French club Le Havre back in July last year for a fee of around £2.7m.

Leeds dealt Jarrod Bowen blow

Leeds have been closely linked with a move for Hull City star Jarrod Bowen right throughout the January transfer window, with the Tigers attacker having a long list of suitors.

After netting 16 goals already in the Championship this season, the 23-year-old has been one of the biggest talking points of the January window and Leeds are reported to have shown a big interest.

However, any hopes that Leeds may have had of luring Bowen to Elland Road by Friday night's 11pm deadline have been dashed, it seems, with Tigers boss Grant McCann confirming that Bowen has told him he doesn't want to go anywhere.

McCann told HullLive: "He’s said to me on numerous occasions that he wants to stay here and have that promotion push. But I’m a realist and I know if someone comes in with money that the club can’t turn down then we’ll have to think about it."
