Latest Leeds United transfer rumours: Ayala offered new Middlesbrough deal, Karbownik blow

Leeds United do not have long to wait until they are in Championship action once again after an agonising wait for their supporters.

The Whites currently sit at the top of the second-tier and faced an anxious wait to find out whether they would carry on the campaign.

During that time, it seems like Leeds were confident it would resume at some point, as they have been preparing for life in the Premier League.

Here are the very latest Leeds transfer rumours.

Ayala twist

Daniel Ayala has been offered a new long-term contract by Middlesbrough amid interest from Leeds United.

A source at the north-east club has told Football Insider that the club have demonstrated their willingness to keep hold of him by offering a new deal.

The Middlesbrough defender is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree a new deal with the club he joined, initially on loan, in October 2013.

The Whites have been strongly linked with Ayala, who is 29 and set to make his first appearance since New Year’s Day when Boro resume their season on June 20.

Bielsa backed to seal Gaich deal

Leeds have been backed to sign San Lorenzo forward Adolfo Gaich this summer.

Former Whites star Michael Brown believes Marcelo Bielsa's influence at Elland Road could mean a deal can be struck this summer.

The 21-year-old has also been linked with fellow Premier League promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion.

“Listen, he’ll be well known, Marcelo Bielsa, in that area, in that region,” Brown told Football Inisder. "People will want to play for Marcelo Bielsa, for sure. Is he a great coach and somebody you’d look to from where you’ve been brought up? Of course it will be.

“We’ve got to understand what type of player they’re going to get. Trust in Marcelo Bielsa, that’s all it is. If he believes he’s going to help the football club, then fantastic.

“We’re talking about the Premier League now, we’re talking about signings and at £12million, it’s not a lot of money.”

Napoli leading chase for Karbownik

Leeds face the prospect of losing out on Michal Karbownik, who has held talks with Napoli.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Legia Warsaw defender has entered into discussions over a switch to Naples with Leeds unable to afford him.

The 19-year-old has caught the eye in the Polish top-flight this season, notching six assists from left-back.

While Napoli are the frontrunners, there is a possibility of Manchester City gazumping the Italians and loaning Karbownik to Leeds, much like Jack Harrison.
