Latest Leeds United transfer rumours: Angus Kinnear admission, massive Ben White update

Leeds United will be playing Premier League football next season, and like most promoted sides, will be looking to bolster their options.

The Whites’ fantastic performance in the Championship means that Marcelo Bielsa will be likely to trust some of his players as they make the step up to the top-flight.

However, there have been several names linked with a move to Elland Road, as the club make their eagerly anticipated return to the Premier League.

With that being said, here are the best Leeds-related transfer rumours from today.

Kinnear delivers transfer update

Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear has admitted the club are already trying to sign new players following their Championship triumph.

It was confirmed on Friday that the Whites would return to the top-tier of English football, and the following day, Bielsa’s side were confirmed as champions.

When speaking to BBC West Yorkshire Sport, Kinnear revealed that the club already knows their targets ahead of next season.

Kinnear said: “Our targets have been identified. We know we need to strengthen. We’re working on them already. We’re working on them now, today it started in earnest.”

Leeds board have January transfer window doubts

Leeds’ Premier League fate may be heavily dependent on how good their recruitment is this summer, with the board unsure on signing players mid-way through a season.

Under Bielsa, the players are constantly asked a lot of, physically, and the Leeds hierarchy think it may not make much sense to bring in mid-season signings.

The Athletic are reporting that the club’s board are debating the point of players being brought in, who don’t get the benefit of a pre-season under the Argentine manager.

Jean-Kevin Augustin was signed in January by the Whites, and the French forward did not start a single game for the Championship champions in his loan spell at the club.

Potter offers White update

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has reiterated that on-loan defender Ben White remains in his plans for next season.

White has spent the season on loan at Leeds, and has impressed massively from the centre of defence, but it seems like the Premier League side want their player back.

The 22-year-old has played 44 games for the Whites in the Championship this season and has been an instrumental in the side’s historic campaign.

When asked what his comment would be in regards to the speculation over White’s future, the Brighton boss said : “That he’s contracted with us and that he’s on loan at Leeds.”
