Latest Leeds United rumours: Fulham competition for defender, Birmingham City talent eyed

Leeds are entering the business end of the season with their promotion push still on track, following on from the weekend's victory over Bristol City.

The Whites have overcome a patch of bad form in recent weeks to reinvigorate their season and are now preparing to enter a more favourable run of fixtures.

Should Marcelo Bielsa’s side manage to end their 16-year stint outside of the Premier League, the squad will need some fresh faces ahead of what would be a difficult campaign.

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours.

Fulham rivals for Chelsea youngster

According to Football Insider, Fulham have hijacked Leeds’ bid to sign highly rated Chelsea youngster Ashley Akpan.

The 16-year-old had a trial with the Whites at the start of January, but Fulham are reported to have invited him to train with the club this week.

Akpan has been on the books at Chelsea since the age of 10, but was recently told he is surplus to requirements, despite Frank Lampard’s willingness to give the younger players a chance this season.

The youngster is a versatile player, who can play in defence as well as midfield, and has been capped by Poland at under-15 level.

Birmingham talent eyed

Leeds United are one of several clubs eyeing a move for Birmingham City forward Adan George, according to TeamTalk.

The academy forward has been with Birmingham since 2015 and Tottenham are said to be keen on bringing the attacker to the Premier League club.

The 16-year-old has caught the eye in the FA Youth Cup this season, including scoring a hat-trick against Sunderland back in December.

Overall, he has scored six goals in seven appearances for Birmingham's U18 side as well as four goals in nine outings for the U23 ranks.
