Latest Leeds United news as Robin Koch closes in on return following successful surgery

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Tuesday 19, October 2021.

Koch hands Leeds boost

Leeds United have been handed a timely boost by defender Robin Koch after he underwent successful surgery in USA last week.

Koch has been absent from the Leeds squad since the first game of the season due to an ongoing issue with his pubis.

German outlet BILD believe that the German international could return to training in just two weeks’ time, while fellow publication Sport1 claim that he may be available for selection again within four weeks.

Koch has struggled with injuries since his arrival at Elland Road last year but his return to the squad will provide Marcelo Bielsa with added cover at both centre back and holding midfield.

Leeds vote to block Newcastle sponsorship deals

Leeds United were among a host of Premier League clubs who voted in favour of blocking any potential lucrative sponsorship deals following Newcastle United’s recent takeover.

That is according to the Guardian, who report that 18 clubs united at an emergency meeting to ban commercial agreements from being struck from pre-existing business relationships.

The vote was passed 18-2, with Leeds voting in favour of the motion, while the only other Premier League club to side with the Magpies was Manchester City, given their Etihad Airways agreement.

However, Lee Charnley who represented the Magpies at the meeting, is reported to have 'made it clear' that the club considered the move to be anti-competitive and 'unlawful'.

Brazilian agents discuss Raphinha valuation

Leeds United winger Raphinha is currently valued at just £28.8 million, according to football statistics website transfermarkt.

However, given the 24-year-old’s progress both at club level and on the international stage over the last 12 months, that valuation seems low when he was signed for only £11 million lower than that.

And four Brazilian agents, with an extensive knowledge on the European transfer market, have all unanimously agreed that if Leeds are forced into selling their talisman, they will earn considerably more than that.

However, despite Raphinha’s impressive showing for Brazil on his first three international appearances last week, that is unlikely to add much to his price tag due to the way South American football is viewed in Europe.
