Latest hurdle for Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa looms large next Monday

All eyes will once again be on Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa this weekend — although this time will mark perhaps the last time his dislocated hip is in the spotlight. The Miami Dolphins, along with the rest of the quarterback hungry teams across the NFL, will be eagerly awaiting the news of Tagovailoa’s doctor appointment next Monday. There, the quarterback hopes to receive full medical clearance to return to football activities.

If it comes, the Tagovailoa camp has already stated they are aiming for an April 9th throwing session for NFL teams. And if that materializes as hoped, the Dolphins’ upcoming quarterback decision perhaps becomes a little easier.

The Dolphins have done well to throw the media off their scent. Do they still covet Tagovailoa, as the rumors has indicated all along? Or has all this mess with his hip caused them to look elsewhere. Would a cleared hip return their interest to fever pitch levels?

There’s a lot of questions and there are no immediate answers — just how general manager Chris Grier probably likes it.

But the next hurdle of this saga comes on Monday as Tagovailoa looks to receive full clearance to resume football activities.

“(Clearance) allows me to do everything,” said Tagovailoa last week. “This rehab process has been gradually getting up as far as workouts with what we’ve been doing. Just strengthening all the parts around the hip, the glute, hamstring, quad. Just being able to be ready that once March 9 hits and we’re cleared to go, I’ll be able to do everything.”

Perhaps everything includes easing any lingering concerns the Dolphins have about his viability as this team’s future at quarterback.
