Latest Hugo Lloris mistake poses the question… should Tottenham replace their No1 goalkeeper?

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris was trending on Twitter for a second consecutive Champions League night, and once again it was for the wrong reasons.

The Spurs captain was sent off as Tottenham's hopes of making the knockout stages were dealt a huge blow in a 2-2 draw at PSV Eindhoven .

Mauricio Pochettino’s side recovered from Hirving Lozano's first-half goal to lead through Lucas Moura and Harry Kane.

Davinson Sanchez also saw a perfectly good goal ruled out by a flagging assistant referee and Spurs appeared well set to revive their Group B qualification hopes.

But Lloris suffered a rush of blood - a foul outside his penalty area on Lozano - earning him a straight red card and, shortly after, former Newcastle loanee Luuk de Jong equalised to leave both PSV and Spurs with one point from three games.

It was the second blunder from Lloris in as many Champions League outings, and his third big-game error in the past fourth months.

How error prone is Lloris?

Official statistics provided by the Premier League state that errors from Lloris have resulted in 15 top flight goals since he arrived at Spurs in 2012. That places him joint-ninth in a table of the most errors leading to goals made by goalkeepers in Premier League history.

He was at fault for Barcelona’s opening goal in the 4-2 defeat at Wembley last time out in Europe, which saw Spurs fall behind with barely a minute on the clock. The France captain was also embarrassed in the summer’s World Cup final by Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic.

While Pochettino was critical of Lloris after the Barca match, the Spurs boss defended his captain after Wednesday night’s mistake.

The fans, however, were less sympathetic.

But should Tottenham replace their No1 goalkeeper?
