The British government has announced an 'air bridge' between England and France that will allow quarantine free travel between the two countries.
The move, designed to get the tourism industry moving, comes into effect on 10 July and will allow holidays in France this summer to go ahead.
France began a strict lockdown on 17 March, with residents required to provide a travel permit to justify any outdoor trips.
While the lockdown has almost been entirely lifted in most of France, the coronavirus epidemic remains present.
Visitors will be required to adhere to French regulations on health and safety while abroad to ensure they do not risk spreading the virus.
Do I have to wear a mask?
Similar to in England, masks are compulsory on all forms of public transport, for those aged 11 and over. Those caught not wearing one can face fines of up to €135.
In individual businesses such as offices and shops the decision whether to enforce compulsory mask-wearing is up to the owner.
Most shops that require masks are likely to have this clearly sign posted outside.
In more open spaces, such as when walking around the streets, masks are not compulsory but the government advises one should be worn where it is more difficult to keep socially distanced.
In parks and gardens it is up to the local authorities to signpost whether one is required.
In restaurants and cafes it varies how strictly masks are enforced, but it is generally advised that a mask should be worn when entering the premises but can be removed once seated at a table.
Tourist attractions, such as museums, have a number of safety measures in place such as requiring pre-booking and many stipulate that visitors must wear face coverings.
Can I go to the beach?
Beaches in France are open to visitors.
While it is not mandatory to wear a face mask at the beach, a number of social distancing measures are recommended to contain the virus.
Groups of more than 10 people are not allowed on the beach.
There will also be a limit to the total number of people able to enter the beach.
Are bars and restaurants open?
Bars and restaurants were given the green light to open on 15 June granted they follow the health regulations set out by the government.
Customers are required to sit at tables spaced at least a metre apart and no more than 10 people can sit at any one table.
Nightclubs currently remain closed.
What happens when you get home?
If you live in England, you will not need to quarantine when you get back from your holiday in France.
If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, the mandatory two week quarantine will still be in place.
