Latest figures show total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Nottinghamshire

Health bosses say there has been another confirmed coronavirus case in Nottinghamshire.

Public Health England's latest figures show 25 people have tested positive for the virus across the city of Nottingham and elsewhere across the county.

The latest stats show, as of 9am on Tuesday, March 17, there were 13 cases in the county and 12 in the city.

It means one more person has tested positive since Monday (March 16).

Although there has been a slight change, as Monday's figures said there were 10 confirmed cases in the city and 14 in the county.

It comes as the Chancellor has announced a three-month mortgage break for those in financial difficulty due to the crisis.

Speaking at a press conference inside 10 Downing Street on Tuesday (March 17), Rishi Sunak said mortgage lenders would offer the break.

Government-backed loans worth £330 billion will be made available to support businesses through the crisis, he said.

The Government's chief scientific adviser said around 55,000 people in the UK now have Covid-19, as the NHS moved to cancel all non-emergency surgery and 71 people are now known to have died.

And a patient at Queen's Medical Centre who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) has died.
