Latest COVID death statistics for Perth and Kinross as one neighbourhood records soaring infection rate

No deaths from COVID-19 were recorded in Perth and Kinross last week, according to new statistics.

Data from the National Records of Scotland show the number of death certificates with the coronavirus on it remained static at 252.

Five people have died from the virus since the start of March - less than the entire last week in February.

The seven day infection rate also continues to fall overall, although one neighbourhood in the region is recording an infection rate of over 100 per 100,000 people.

Muirton currently has an infection rate of 110.1. Elsewhere, Moncrieffe and Friarton has a rate of 98.3, Guildtown, Balbeggie and St Madoes has a rate of 97.9 and Comrie, Gilmerton and St Fillans is recording a rate of 78.2.

The latest overall infection rate in the region is 14.5 per 100,00, down from 15.8 the week before.

That was after 22 positive cases, or 0.7 per cent of all tests.

On May 4, the infection rate dropped to its lowest level since September 14 when it was recorded at 7.2.
