Latest COVID-19 figures for Perth and Kinross show four hotspots but numbers are dropping

The COVID-19 infection rate in Perth and Kinross has dropped to its lowest level since August.

The latest figure up to October 3 is 250.5 per 100,000 after 382 positive cases.

That is a drop from 331.8 the previous week after 504 positive tests.

And it is the lowest figure since August 23 when the rate was 250.1.

The percentage of positive tests also dropped over the past week from 7.7 per cent to 6.8 per cent.

However, four neighbourhoods continue to record high infection rates of over 400.

Burghmuir and Oakbank has the highest infection rate in the region at 526.4 per 100,000.

It is followed by Glenfarg, Dunning and Rhynd (497.5), Pitlochry (440.1) and Errol and Inchture (425.1).

North Inch and Blairgowrie East have the lowest infection rates, with both considered to have suppressed the virus for now.

It comes as it was confirmed there were no COVID deaths in the region last week.

Figures from the National Records of Scotland showed the total number of deaths from the coronavirus in the region had stayed static at 285 following 10 deaths across the two previous weeks.
