Latest coronavirus infection rates for Greater Manchester as cases fall in six boroughs

Coronavirus infection rates have fallen in six boroughs of Greater Manchester, but gone up in others.

Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester.

The borough recorded a rate of 457.5 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending November 1, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency.

The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 269.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 363.3 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 407.2 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 10,303 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on November 1. The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 493 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 5 per cent in the last week..

The infection rate is higher than the national average in 4 areas of Greater Manchester. It is lower than the national average in 6 areas.

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on October 31, a total of 286 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is nine more than the week before, a rise of 3%.

On Tuesday November 02, there were 41 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is six more than a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

Deaths

In the week ending November 1, a total of 57 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 11 more than the week before.

Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs

In Bolton , the number of cases is up by two per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 297.7 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 858 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending November 1, which was 19 more than the previous 7 days.

In Trafford , there were 1087 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending November 1, which is 156 fewer than the previous 7 days.

Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 13 per cent.

In Bury , the latest infection rate is 437.8 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone up by seven per cent.

A total of 835 people tested positive for Covid in Bury over the seven days ending on November 1, which is 51 more than the week before.

Oldham , which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 640 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending November 1, which is 85 fewer than the previous 7 days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 269.3 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 12 per cent week-on-week.

There was a fall of two per cent in cases in Salford over the week ending November 1, and the infection rate is now 301.9 cases per 100,000 population.

Salford recorded 793 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 17 fewer than the previous week.

There were 1289 positive tests over the last week in Stockport , which is 172 fewer than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend in Stockport is down by 12 per cent and the latest infection rate is 438.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Manchester is an area where the trend is up. The latest infection rate here is 296.4 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 1647 cases recorded in Manchester, which is 20 more than the previous week - a rise of one per cent.

Wigan saw a total of 1290 cases in the week ending November 1, which is 30 more than the previous week. That is a rise of two per cent.

In Wigan, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 390.1 cases per 100,000 people.

The trend is down in Rochdale , where there were 909 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending November 1, which is 107 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 11 per cent compared to the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Rochdale is 406.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.

Tameside recorded 955 coronavirus cases, which is 76 fewer than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in Tameside is 420.5 cases per 100,000 people and that is down seven per cent week-on-week.
