Latest coronavirus infection rate for Greater Manchester as overall decline continues

The coronavirus infection rate for Greater Manchester continues to decline - although two boroughs are seeing cases increases in the latest daily figures.

Bury has the highest rate in the region with 195 positive cases per 100,000 people.

Daily case numbers are up on Rochdale and Wigan.

Only Stockport has an increase in the week-on-week figures - although the figure is level in Rochdale.

All ten areas remain above the national average.

The lowest infection rate is in Trafford where the rate is 110.4 cases per 100,000 people.

The overall infection rate for Greater Manchester is now 160.9 and that is higher than the national average, which is 102.8 cases per 100,000 people.

The infection rate in Greater Manchester was down 14 per cent in the last week and is currently falling more slowly than in England as a whole.

A total of 4,564 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the seven days which ended on February 24.

The Greater Manchester 7-day total has decreased by 723 cases compared to the previous week.

In Bury, there were 374 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 24, which is 52 fewer than the previous 7 days.

The infection rate in Bury is down compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 12 per cent.

There were 560 positive tests in Bolton over the week ending February 24, and that is 105 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week change is down by 16 per cent.

In Stockport, the number of cases has gone up by 1 per cent week-on-week. A total of 517 people tested positive for Covid and that is 4 more than the week before.

Tameside recorded 396 cases in the week ending February 24, which is 76 fewer than the previous 7 days and down 16 per cent.

The trend is level in Rochdale, where there were 375 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 24, which is exactly the same as the previous 7 days.

Wigan saw a total of 524 cases in week ending February 24, which is 45 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 8 per cent.

There was a fall of 21 per cent in cases in Salford over the week ending February 24. Salford recorded 407 positive Covid-19 tests, and that is 108 fewer than the previous week.

In Manchester, the number of cases was down by 22 per cent. There were 811 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 24, which is 226 fewer than the previous 7 days.

There were 338 cases recorded in Oldham, which is 62 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 16 per cent.

Trafford, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 262 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 24, which is 53 fewer than the previous 7 days. The rate in Trafford, is down by 17 per cent.
