Latest coronavirus deaths in Nottingham's hospitals confirmed

The latest deaths of coronavirus patients in Nottingham's hospitals have been announced.

On Thursday, April 23, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust confirmed a further five patients had died having tested positive for the virus.

The patients were aged between 62 and 91 and died on April 21 and 22.

It brings the total number of coronavirus deaths in Nottingham's QMC and City Hospital to 162.

Dr Keith Girling, medical director at Nottingham University Hospitals, said: “Sadly we can confirm that a further five patients have died having tested positive for Covid-19.

"Regrettably that means that 162 Covid-19 positive patients we were caring for have sadly died since the beginning of March.”

“The patients were aged between 62 and 91, and died on April 21 and 22.”

“The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

There have been 425,821 people tested, of which 138,078 tested positive in the UK.

As of 5pm on April 22, of those in hospital in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 18,738 have died.
