Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Willian set for new contract, Havertz deal close, £19m blow

Chelsea look set for a big summer with the transfer window now officially open for business.

Having secured their place in the Champions League for next season, Frank Lampard will be setting his sights on how to strengthen the Blues for his second campaign in charge.

Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have already completed their moves, and if the reports are anything to go by, they certainly won’t be the last new additions.

Frank Lampard on impact of Champions League on transfers

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip coming from Stamford Bridge.

Willian set for new deal

Chelsea could be set to agree a new contract with Willian after reportedly making a breakthrough during talks with the Brazilian.

The 31-year-old’s current deal is set to expire this summer, and the player has already turned down a two-year extension.

Several clubs have been linked with a move for the winger, with Arsenal, Tottenham, Barcelona and Inter Miami all said to have been monitoring his situation.

Willian though could be set to stay put, with Sky Sports reporting that progress has been made with talks, and the Brazilian could put pen to paper on a new deal by the end of the week.

Ajax beat Blues to Antony

Ajax have signed highly-rated Brazilian forward Antony from Sao Paulo, and in the process beaten Chelsea to his signature.

The 20-year-old had reportedly been a target for the Blues, but will instead make the move to Amsterdam, where he will act as a replacement for Hakim Ziyech following his move to Stamford Bridge.

Antony has signed a five-year deal in the Netherlands, as confirmed by Ajax, with the fee believed to be around €15.75m, which could rise to €21.75m with bonuses.

The transfer is the most expensive in Eredivisie history, with Sao Paulo getting a 20 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Havertz deal could move closer

Chelsea’s qualification for next season’s Champions League may have boosted their chances of landing Kai Havertz this summer.

The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is being heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga, with the Blues understood to be in the running for his signature.

Fans got excited when the German liked an Instagram post from Timo Werner showing the striker touching down in England before heading to Chelsea’s final game of the season.

And Bild have suggested the Blues securing their top four place may have boosted their hopes of landing Havertz, reporting that the two clubs could agree a deal worth an initial €70m.
