The Premier League are continuing their discussions on plans to complete the 2019/20 season and this could see Chelsea back in action soon.
It has been almost two months since Frank Lampard's side were last in action and there is plenty to fight for, with a top-four finish in sight and a Champions League clash with Bayern Munich to be played.
While football hasn't been played, it has not brought a halt to the transfer speculation and Chelsea are being linked with a host of acquisitions.
Here, we have identified a selection of the latest transfer rumours regarding the Blues,.
Willian's Mourinho reunion
Chelsea winger Willian has already sealed a reunion with Jose Mourinho by agreeing to join Tottenham this summer, according to beIN Sports.
Willian, 31, has been at Stamford Bridge for seven years, and almost joined Tottenham before completing his move to Chelsea.
Speaking on the Keys & Gray show on beIN Sports, Keys confidently predicted: "He’s (Willian) another one that has already spoken to Jose Mourinho, he’s on his way to Tottenham."
However, that claim has since been refuted by ESPN Brazil who claim that Willian has denied the rumour.
The Brazilian is out-of-contract in June and has so far been unable to strike a deal with the Blues. The player has also admitted he keeps in contact with Mourinho and would be open to a summer transfer.
Fiorentina open to Chiesa sale
Fiorentina are open to the idea of selling Federico Chiesa if the star forward wants to leave, according to the club’s owner Rocco Commisso.
Reports have previously suggested the likes of Juve, Inter, Manchester United and Chelsea are looking to make a push to sign the Fiorentina star, who is the son of Enrico Chiesa.
Commisso denied the club have offered Chiesa a new contract in the wake of those transfer links and confirmed they would work with the player if the club received an acceptable offer.
“We had a meeting before Christmas if I’m not mistaken,” Commisso told Radio Bruno Toscana. “If he wants to go, then I’m sorry, but we’d accommodate him, providing the offer is fair. We must also see what he’s worth.
“[His price] may have dropped since last year. It must suit everyone, although there’s a chance that he’ll stay. I haven’t offered Federico anything. There hasn’t been a proposal, it’s fake news. The important thing is that a player wants to stay.”
Commisso added: “Many players have understood that Fiorentina are aiming high. I don’t want to put anything in Chiesa’s mouth, he’s a very good lad. We have a very good relationship and I want to keep him. I want to do the right thing for Fiorentina and, if he wants to go, we’ll accommodate him. There’s Juventus, but there are also other teams in Europe.”
Fight for Timo Werner
Chelsea are ready to rival Liverpool for Timo Werner, according to BILD.
Werner, 24, has been in sensational form for Leipzig this season, scoring 21 goals in 25 league games. He has long been linked with a move to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, but it is believed that Frank Lampard is interested in acquiring the German international.
The report claims Chelsea have initiated contact with Werner’s representative, Karlheinz Förster.
The Blues currently have Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud, Michy Batshuayi as striking options, although it is expected that Lampard will seek out a new forward during the next transfer window.
Bild says Werner has a €60m release clause that’s valid until June 15th, meaning any potential suitors have over a month to agree a deal for that fixed price.
Liverpool remain the ‘big favourite’, but they are not the only serious candidate, suggesting Chelsea have now joined the race for the Leipzig star.
