It has now been over two months since Chelsea last played a match but, with the Bundesliga having returned, there is encouraging signs that the Premier League could follow suit.
Discussions surrounding Project Restart are set to continue this week, with the aim of playing the remaining 92 Premier League matches behind closed doors from mid-June.
That means there will at least a few more weeks without football for Chelsea but it hasn't quite brought an end to the discussions, as transfer rumours continue to circulate.
Here, we have gathered some of the latest stories surrounding the Blues.
Werner makes transfer decision
Timo Werner is pursuing a transfer to Liverpool and will remain with RB Leipzig for another season if a move doesn't materialise, The Athletic states.
The Germany international has been linked with a host of clubs following his stellar performances in recent seasons, including Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
However, it's now stated that Werner only has eyes for a move to Liverpool and, if it doesn't occur, then he will remain with the Bundesliga side.
If he was to stay with Leipzig, he would be available for a lower fee in 2021 due to a clause in his contract.
Kante stance made clear
Chelsea are set for a significant exodus this summer but N'Golo Kante and Jorginho will not be allowed to leave, ESPN reports.
A number of players will be sold in order to fund a rebuild but, despite interest in their services from other clubs, the Blues will resist offers for their midfield duo.
Tiemoue Bakayoko, Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, Michy Batshuayi and Davide Zappacosta are among the players who will be offloaded from Stamford Bridge.
Kante has been linked with Real Madrid, while Juventus are linked with Jorginho, although both clubs look set to be frustrated in their hunt.
Barcelona join Havertz hunt
Barcelona are the latest club to express an interest in Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz ahead of the next transfer window, Sport1 reports.
Havertz has been linked with a host of clubs after catching the eye with the Bundesliga side, including that of a number of Premier League clubs.
Along with Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have all previously been linked with a swoop for the Germany international.
However, the fight for his services will be fierce and Barcelona joining the hunt will only increase the competition in the transfer market.
