Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Werner boost, Soumare could leave Lille, huge Onana update

Chelsea will be hoping to halt a three-game winless league run on Monday evening when they welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge for a crunch Premier League encounter.

The Blues, who have been busy on the transfer front over the past week, agreeing a deal with Ajax to sign attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech in the summer, will be desperate to secure a return to winning ways against United in a bid to bolster their hopes of securing Champions League football for next season.

At the moment, Frank Lampard's team currently occupy fourth-place in the league standings, just ahead of London rivals Tottenham by a point.

With the gap proving so tight this term, Chelsea will be looking to have a more stress-free campaign next time around, meaning they may be in need of significantly adding to their squad over the summer.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of the day's very latest Chelsea transfer news.

Soumare in Lille tension talks

Chelsea's hopes of possibly signing Lille's Boubakary Soumare this summer have been handed a possible boost with the news that Lille boss Christophe Galtier has hinted that there is possible tensions between the club and the midfielder.

Soumare, who was close to joining Newcastle United in the January transfer window, was left out of the Lille side that was beaten 2-1 by Marseille on Sunday evening.

His absence fuelled speculation about his future, with Galtier, after the game, confirming that tensions can creep in between a player and his club.

He told L'Equipe: "There is a situation at the club that I do not comment on. In seasons, there can be tension between a player and his club."

As well as Chelsea being keen on the French midfielder, Liverpool, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also said to be keen on landing his signature.

Chelsea handed Werner hope

Chelsea may have been handed a boost in their hopes of signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner this summer after the club's CEO has announced that he is refusing to rule the sale of the striker, report the Metro.

The Germany international has been in fine goal-scoring form for Leipzig this season, which has led to speculation about his future, with Chelsea's Premier League rivals Liverpool leading the chase.

Werner has a £60million release clause in his contract and it is thought that Liverpool may look to activate that before it expires in April.

But Chelsea are also keen on the forward, who has netted 25 goals in all competitions this season, meaning that they could look to activate his release clause following the claims of Oliver Mintzlaff, the club's CEO.

Blues target to be a part of Ajax exodus

The Blues have already sealed one deal for one Ajax player this summer in the shape of Ziyech and they could be set to strike another one in the shape of goalkeeper Andre Onana, report the Mail.

Boss Lampard has plans to try and offload goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer and could turn to Onana, who has been linked with the Blues in recent weeks, as the Spaniard's replacement.

Amongst the other players that could leave the Johan Cruyff Arena this summer are David Neres, Donny van de Beek and Nicolas Tagliafico.
