Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Update on £80m midfield target, Ruben Loftus-Cheek admission

Chelsea have spent around £250 million this transfer window but a win, a draw, and a loss has led to an underwhelming start to the season.

The Blues landed Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, and Thiago Silva in a busy transfer window.

But Frank Lampard may not be finished there, however.

And Chelsea, who travel to rivals Tottenham in the Carabao Cup fourth round tonight, may look to offload some players after splashing the cash this summer.

Here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard on West Brom draw

Declan Rice pursuit continues

The midfielder, who began his career in Chelsea's academy, is still on the Blues' radar.

The West Ham United star captained his side in their 4-0 win over Wolves on Sunday and the club reportedly value him at £80million.

Although West Ham assistant manager Alan Irvine saying Rice “is not somebody with other things on his mind,” the Evening Standard reports that Lampard still wants the 21-year-old, who can also play in defence.

Rice played every minute of the 2019/20 Premier League season for West Ham and helped the Hammers do the double over Chelsea.

He also played alongside Mason Mount at Chelsea as a youngster but was released aged 14.

Premier League interest for Zouma

Chelsea have reportedly slapped a £36million price tag on defender Kurt Zouma, according to reports in France.

Leicester City and Everton have shown an interest in securing the services of the 25-year-old, reports Le 10 Sport.

Although the French defender has been sent out on season-long loans twice since he joined The Blues in 2014, he has played three times in all competitions this season.

One of those seasons was at Goodison Park, and Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen to add defensive reinforcements.

And as he wasn't in the matchday squad for West Brom on Saturday, the reports in France suggest a move could be on the cards.

Loftus-Cheek to get game time

Lampard says he is looking to find the "best path" for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who may go out on loan.

The 24-year-old has struggled since returning from his serious achilles injury and he wasn't in Chelsea's squad for the West Brom game.

As reported in The Telegraph, Lampard said: “I’m very open with Ruben, we’ve had a couple of conversations in the past week.

“There’s a possibility that Ruben may go out to play games, because I think that would be great for him.

"We hold him in very high regard here, I certainly do, and that could be a good option for him.

"If that’s not the right option, he’ll be competitive in this squad as well, because of the quality that he has, and, hopefully, be a big plus for us.

“So I’m relaxed about it, but I want to find the best path for Ruben and for us. We’ll see, with the week we’ve got ahead of us.”
