Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Roman Abramovich makes N'Golo Kante decision, shortlist named

Chelsea were beaten on penalties by Spurs in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, and there's little time to rest with a fixture against Crystal Palace early on Saturday afternoon.

For Frank Lampard, it has been a case so far this season of trying to bed in his new signings, and there was a debut for keeper Edouard Mendy against Spurs.

There are just three days until the transfer deadline, and despite a host of incoming players so far this window, Chelsea continue to be linked with more.

Plus, there are chances of exits from Stamford Bridge in the coming days.

Below, we take a look at the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Champions League draw reaction and Chelsea transfer latest

Two players remain on Chelsea shortlist

According to the Express, Chelsea have just two players remaining on their shortlist for the transfer window.

The Blues have been hyperactive in the market, signing Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva, as well as finally seeing Hakim Ziyech arrive after agreeing a move earlier in the year.

With just three days until the transfer deadline, Chelsea apparently only have two targets left: West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and Nico Melamed from Espanyol.

The Blues are attempting to push through a move for Rice, but it looks unlikely that a deal will be agreed before Monday's deadline.

Chelsea prepared to sanction Rudiger exit

Chelsea are apparently prepared to allow Antonio Rudiger to join rivals Tottenham on a one-year loan deal, as long as he signs an extension at Stamford Bridge.

The defender has 18 months remaining on his contract, and while the Blues are prepared to allow him to seek regular first-team football elsewhere, they want to protect his value.

According to the Standard, Spurs are considering a move for Rudiger after being put off by Inter in their chase for Milan Skriniar.

The Germany international has been told by Frank Lampard he is surplus to requirements, and wants to leave the club in this transfer window.

Abramovich will not sell Kante

N'Golo Kante will not be allowed to leave Chelsea with interest reportedly growing in the 29-year-old.

The midfielder is apparently the source of interest from several clubs, including Manchester United.

However, David Ornstein of The Athletic has stated that the midfielder will not be going anywhere, with Roman Abramovich and Frank Lampard having no intention of selling the World Cup winner.

"I don’t think we should be getting too excited about the prospect of N'Golo Kante signing for Manchester United before the deadline," Ornstein told Tifo.

"I don’t think he will be leaving Chelsea – full stop. We have got no evidence that he is available.

"Frank Lampard has spoken glowingly about how important he is to his squad.

"And, to my understanding, Roman Abramovich loves N'Golo Kante and when he loves a player, he doesn’t want to let them go.

"Kante, furthermore, isn’t the sort of player who would rock the boat if he feels loved and being part of the plan."
