Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Olivier Giroud sends message to Juventus, Declan Rice update

Chelsea's Premier League season begins on Monday evening, but off the pitch their summer spending spree is not done yet.

The Blues  are on the verge of  landing goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, and there may even be another arrival with  Frank Lampard  still keen on West Ham star Declan Rice.

Meanwhile, we are still expecting to see some departures from Stamford Bridge before the end of the summer window in October.

Below we run you through all the latest rumours on the transfer front as Chelsea prepare to kick off their new season.

Chelsea reach Edouard Mendy transfer agreement

Giroud clears up stance

Olivier Giroud has dismissed claims he wants to leave Chelsea and join Juventus.

"Italians, they get carried away quickly," Giroud told Telefoot when asked about reports in the Italian media.

"I was surprised to receive messages from friends this morning telling me about this rumour.

"That’s far from being the case. I am a Chelsea player and I feel good here.

"I didn’t have the great end of the season that I did to leave like this, and not believe in my chances. I will fight for my place.

"But it’s always good to get the attention of these kinds of clubs, it’s flattering. But I remain focused on Chelsea.

"We will see what will happen in the coming weeks. But there is nothing signed or done. I prefer to deny it."

Rice update

West Ham United’s  Declan Rice  is now said to be the priority signing for  Chelsea  to complete their hectic transfer window.

The Blues are  set to seal a deal for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy  before turning their attention to Rice.

Hammers boss David Moyes has spoken directly of the player’s future amid reports of the Blues’ interest.

"It was always the plan, there was no intention to lose Declan Rice," Moyes said, in quotes carried by  football.london .

"We have had no bids and no enquiries. There is a lot of speculation but I can only tell you what I know.

"I wouldn’t want to lose him anyway because he is too big a player for us, he is too important and a big part of the squad.

"He’s been captain already, I think he is learning a lot of leadership from Mark Noble, so I hope in the future we will have an incredibly talented footballer with great leadership skills and will be the captain of West Ham.”

When quizzed if it would take 'Bank of England' level money to secure a transfer, Moyes added: "Well I hope that is the case. We have still got a long way to go in the window, maybe somebody has the Bank of England but nobody has shown that.”

Kante decision

Chelsea have been tipped to cash-in on midfielder N’Golo Kante this summer, but a report in the  Daily Mail , via  football.london , has ruled out an exit.

It is claimed that the Blues have rejected all approaches for the Frenchman this summer and he looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Midfielder Jorginho may, however, be available for sale this summer, adds the report.
