Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Miralem Pjanic makes Blues decision, Ben Chilwell update

The return of the Premier League is now just over a week away, and Chelsea will be aiming to secure their place in the top four when they get back down to action.

Frank Lampard’s side currently occupy that coveted final spot, and will be hoping they can secure Champions League football for next season during the remainder of the current campaign.

Should they achieve that, it could have a big say in their transfer activity this summer, with plenty of rumours suggesting players could be joining Timo Werner in making the move to Stamford Bridge.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip around the Blues.

City join race for Chilwell

Manchester City are prepared to join Chelsea in the race for Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell when the transfer window opens.

The England international is set to be a man in demand this summer, with the Blues heavily linked with his signature.

But, according to the Telegraph, City could also prove to be a possible destination for him, should Pep Guardiola’s side need to recruit in that position.

Leicester’s valuation of Chilwell may prove to be an obstacle though, with the Foxes reported to rate their full-back as highly as they did Harry Maguire, who joined Manchester United for £85million.

Pjanic turns down Blues

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has reportedly turned down the chance to sign for Chelsea in order to try and push through a move to Barcelona.

Marca reports that the 30-year-old has been close to finalising a move to the Camp Nou before, and is not willing to let another opportunity pass him by.

Therefore, he has rejected a proposal from the Blues, as well as PSG, and is ready to ignore any other offers.

Pjanic’s contract at Juve runs until 2023, with the Turin club valuing him at 50million euros.

West Ham's Batshuayi interest denied

Rumours that West Ham are leading the race for Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi have reportedly been denied by a senior club insider.

The striker has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, with Timo Werner’s impending arrival seemingly pushing further down the pecking order.

A number of reports have suggested the Belgian could be set to make the short journey to the Hammers this summer.

But according to Claret and Hugh, a club insider at the London Stadium has poured cold water on the rumours.
