Chelsea have endured a mixed couple of months but now they have a chance to make some improvements to their squad in the January transfer window.
The Blues have surprised many as they sit fourth in the Premier League table after 21 games played despite a transfer ban which hampered them last summer.
But now Lampard has a chance to bring in some players this month to add some competition for places.
Chelsea have naturally been linked with an array of names this month and that is continuing in the latest round-up of gossip below.
Chelsea and Tottenham battling for Lemar
Chelsea and Tottenham are both going head to head as they fight to sign Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar.
The 24-year-old is wanted on loan by the Premier League duo, with The Telegraph reporting that Atletico have told the player he can leave the club during the January transfer window.
Spurs are said to have registered interest in Lemar but now Chelsea have jumped ahead of Jose Mourinho's men in the race to sign the France international by making an offer.
Lemar has not lived up to expectations since making a €60 million (£51m) switch from Monaco in 2018.
Lampard makes Giroud admission
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that Olivier Giroud could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this month.
The January transfer window has brought with it speculation on the Frenchman's future.
Lampard was asked about the 32-year-old's place at the club and helped clear up the situation somewhat amid links with the likes of Newcastle United.
"I said it after our last game, with Oli the situation is if it is right for everybody, first and foremost that's us the club, because he is under contract then we will look at whether he will leave the club," Lampard told football.london
"I think he has been a great professional here. He has trained brilliantly through this season even without many opportunities. So I hold him in high regard in that respect but I still have to make a decision for the football club and nothing is done yet.
Asked how close Giroud is to leaving, Lampard added; "Well listen, I think everyone is talking about it so I am not going to beat around the bush. I think his agent has spoken to the club (Chelsea) but until we decide it is the right thing then it is not done."

Liverpool hand Chelsea transfer blow
Liverpool have handed Chelsea a potential transfer blow as the January window begins to get into full swing.
The Reds are not expected to add too many more names to their squad this month after signing Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg.
But French publication Foot Mercato state that Jurgen Klopp's men are chasing Samuel Chukwueze, who has been linked with Chelsea and Lyon.
The Villarreal winger reportedly has a release clause of £53.5 million but the Spanish club may even do business for £34m, it has been claimed.
