Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Kai Havertz bid update, David Alaba approach, Jorginho latest

Chelsea have already been active in the market with early movement, luring Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to West London from Ajax and RB Leipzig respectively.

Both additions will provide a significant boost to Frank Lampard's side next season, as they look to assure their position as Champions League regulars as well as closing the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

As such, further additions could be on the cards and a host of exciting names are being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, which would strengthen the Blues at both ends of the field.

Here, we have gathered some of the latest rumours and gossip surrounding Lampard's side.

Havertz update

Frank Lampard has poured cold water on reports that Chelsea have made a £79.6million bid for Kai Havertz.

The Blues have already made moves in the summer transfer window, bringing in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner for a combined £82million.

Reports emerged on Tuesday night that Leverkusen had received two offers for Havertz - one from Real Madrid and one from Chelsea, in the region of £79.6million.

But Lampard said on the reports: “He's obviously a top player, but to carry on from my answer before I'm certainly not going to comment on other players at other teams.

“And it cannot be our focus. So, nothing to say. No. No bids have gone in."

Alaba approached

Chelsea have reportedly made an approach for a Ben Chilwell alternative

The Express is reporting that Frank Lampard’s side have made an approach to Bayern Munich over the availability of David Alaba.

The Blues are believed to be keen on a left-back this summer and have previously been linked with Leicester City's Chilwell.

But with Leicester believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £70million for Chilwell, the report claims that contingency plans are now being drawn up at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho going nowhere

Jorginho is very unlikely to leave Chelsea this summer as no clubs can afford him.

That is according to his agent, Joao Santos, who claims a summer switch away from Stamford Bridge is unlikely due to the economic uncertainty of the coronavirus crisis.

“It will be a strange market because nobody knows when it will return to normal,” Santos told Calcio Mercato.

“If we play the next league without fans, nobody will be able to afford to do deals.

“The next season could be behind closed doors, and that’s a big deal. Chelsea have already spent because they weren’t able to buy last year.

“The price in recent years for Jorginho has certainly increased. He has done well in London and played for the national team.

“He is now the vice-captain at Chelsea and has accumulated a lot of experience in the Champions League and the Europa League.

“I think it’s very difficult for an offer to come in for Jorginho. There isn’t a team at this moment that can make this type of investment at this time.”
