Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Jadon Sancho talks initiated, £23m Matias Vecino deal

Chelsea will resume their campaign following the Premier League's first-ever winter break with a tasty-looking clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.

The Blues, who have been bolstered in the past week with the news that they have agreed a deal with Ajax to sign attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech in the summer, will be looking to get back to winning ways after a run of three league matches without a win.

Right now, Chelsea are in pole position to secure 4th place in the Premier League this season, meaning that another season of Champions League football beckons.

Frank Lampard excited for Hakim Ziyech's arrival

But if the Blues are going to want to push on next season, Lampard will need to get to work in the transfer market.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of the day's very latest Chelsea transfer news.

Blues open talks for Sancho

Chelsea have opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a summer swoop for winger Jadon Sancho, according to the Mirror.

The England international is currently enjoying an outstanding season for the Bundesliga giants, having netted 16 goals in all competitions, as well as claiming a very impressive 17 assists.

Sancho has been linked with a whole host of English clubs over the past few months, including Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

It was thought that following the Blues' move for Ziyech, a swoop for Sancho may be ruled out. But that does not appear to be the case, with Lampard seemingly eager to add the 19-year-old to his squad.

Chelsea ready to pay Vecino's asking price

Lampard may have already got a deal in place to add Ziyech to his midfield this summer, but it does not seem to have stopped the Blues legend from looking to bolster that area of the pitch even further.

That is because, according to the Express, Chelsea are ready to meet Inter Milan's £23million valuation of midfield star Matias Vecino.

Vecino, who is a Uruguayan international, is not thought to be in the long-term plans of Inter chief Antonio Conte.

But Chelsea may face a battle to land the 28-year-old, with their Premier League rivals, Everton, also keen on landing his signature.

Scouts watch Hellas Verona youngster

Chelsea have had scouts keeping tabs on Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbull over the past few weeks as the Blues weigh up a move for the 20-year-old, report Sports Mole.

The Albania international, who plays as a centre-back, has been making quite an impression in Serie A this season.

But it is reported that Chelsea are not alone in the list of clubs monitoring Kumbull, with Manchester City and Manchester United also keen on him.

It is claimed that any potential deal to lure the defender to West London would cost around £16.6million.
