Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Havertz boost, Blues to sell six, Chilwell alternatives

Chelsea boosted their chances of making the top four thanks to a convincing win over Watford on Saturday but whatever happens this season the future is bright for the club.

The signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have offered up boosts for fans dreaming of Premier League glory next term.

And if the latest transfer rumours relating to the club are anything to go by, it seems like Frank Lampard's men are not done when it comes to signing talent this summer.

Havertz to discuss Leverkusen future

Reported Chelsea target Kai Havertz is set to discuss his future at Bayer Leverkusen in the coming weeks.

Havertz has been linked with a move to the Blues, and with Bayern Munich signing Leroy Sane earlier in the week, this could give Chelsea a big boost.

According to Bild reporter Christian Falk, Havertz will now have a meeting with his parent club and discuss his future at the side.

Falk also suggests that Bayern will not come in for the 21-year-old this summer, with Real Madrid 'hesitating for 2020'.

Blues to sell six players

Chelsea could sell up to six players in order to fund the signing of Havertz, according to the Express.

The report states that Marcos Alonso, Michy Batshuayi, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Kenedy, Emerson Palmieri and Danny Drinkwater could all be sold to raise funds for the 21-year-old.

The Bundesliga side rate Havertz at £90m, which would be a significant fee especially considering the coronavirus pandemic’s impact on club’s finances

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is willing to back manager Frank Lampard with the money, but would want to generate funds in any way possible.

Two alternatives for Chilwell

Chelsea have identified two alternatives just in case it’s not possible to bring Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell to the club this summer.

The England left-back is the Blues’ first-choice for the left side of defence, but Lampard has identified two alternatives, according to the Metro.

Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico and Porto’s Alex Telles have both been considered and would be considerably cheaper than Chilwell.

However, Chilwell is still the Blues’ first-choice, but his £85 million price tag could make the deal a lot more complicated.
