Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Edinson Cavani loan deal, Jadon Sancho development

Chelsea suffered a blow in their London derby against Arsenal on Tuesday evening, with the 10-man Gunners fighting back from behind twice at Stamford Bridge.

That saw the Blues open the door for their top-four rivals to close the deficit in the hunt for Champions League football and there is plenty of work to be done in the coming months.

The January transfer window remains open though, giving Frank Lampard nine days to secure his first signing for the club - having been restricted by a transfer ban in the summer.

Plenty of names have been linked with a move to West London this month and we have gathered some of the latest snippets below.

Frank Lampard on soft Arsenal goals

Cavani offer made

Chelsea have launched a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani with a loan offer,  according to The Times.

As part of the offer, Chelsea have pledged to match the Uruguayan’s wages for the remainder of the season - which is currently in excess of £360,000 a week meaning the Blues would pay a total of £7.2million in wages.

On top of that, Chelsea will have to pay £5m to PSG to land the former Napoli man.

Jadon Sancho development

Borussia Dortmund have identified replacements for Jadon Sancho as interest in the England international heats up,  according to Sport Bild via The Mail.

Chelsea are among a host of clubs looking to sign the teenager, along with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool, as well as Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Dortmund appear to be resigned to losing their top talent as it’s stated they have already identified potential replacements for the former Manchester City starlet.

Their eyes appear to be cast towards South America, as Gremio’s Everton and Sao Paulo’s Antony are both stated as targets.

Liverpool move for Soumare

Liverpool are considering rivalling Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham in the market for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare, Le 10 Sport reports.

The highly-rated 20-year-old has caught the eye of a number of Premier League sides since his arrival at the French side in the summer and, while a January move is unlikely, a fierce fight could emerge in the summer.

Chelsea are the frontrunners to secure the services of the midfielder but Liverpool's venture into the market could hand Frank Lampard some problems in the Blues' pursuit.
