Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Deal lined up for top youngster, links to huge talent continue

The countdown to the summer transfer window is now on, with Chelsea needing to assess their squad and potential business carefully in the coming months.

The Blues were banned from registering players for two transfer windows after they were found guilty of breaking rules into the signing of youth players, something that Chelsea deny.

FIFA have already stated that the Blues will not be allowed to register players this summer and their request to delay the ban has been denied.

Chelsea's appeal to FIFA is currently being heard, and could potentially mean they are able to buy players this summer, even if the ban is eventually upheld.

While the west London side have been left to consider their next steps, there are still a number of transfer links for the Blues to deal with, and still plenty of players who could leave, which could mean trouble at Stamford Bridge.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea will reportedly offer Callum Hudson-Odoi a new contract at the club following his Achilles injury that will end his season.

The 18-year-old will undergo surgery this week on his ankle, according to the  Telegraph , which will likely end Bayern Munich’s hopes of signing the youngster in the summer.

And they state that Chelsea will be offering Hudson-Odoi a new deal during the recovery from his injury to reiterate their commitment to the winger.

The England international had previously rejected new offers from the club, handing in a transfer request in January in a bid to join the German giants. However, since Chelsea turned down his request, he has seen his game time increase, leading to optimism that he will stay at the club beyond the end of his current contract, which expires in 2020.

Philippe Coutinho

Chelsea continue to be linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho in the summer, whose future is apparently “in the hands of FIFA”.

Assuming the transfer ban is put on hold, the Blues are apparently considering a move for the former Liverpool man, who hasn’t hit the heights expected of him by some in Spain.

According to  Sport , he’s "in the spotlight" for Chelsea as they consider a possible replacement for Eden Hazard, who’s sale they say looks "completely inevitable".

Coutinho scored in the Champions League win over Manchester United at Camp Nou, and celebrated by closing his eyes and sticking his fingers in his ears - a clear signal to the Spanish press over their criticisms of him this season.

Edinson Cavani

Edinson Cavani has admitted he could leave PSG at the end of the season. The 32-year-old has been in Paris for six seasons now, and has become their all-time leading goalscorer.

With just one year on his contract, he is attracting interest from Chelsea, who see him as a potential replacement for the disappointing Gonzalo Higuain.

The Blues pushed to sign Cavani in January, according to the  Sun , but were knocked back before making a move for Higuain. And if their transfer ban appeal is successful, or at least delayed, Cavani could be a summer target.

They would reportedly face competition from Atletico Madrid, and though the striker admits he is happy in France, he is making no promises over his future.

"I have a contract here. One more year. I’m good, serene, happy with the life and supporters.

"But in football, you never know."
