Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Blues target swoop for Bundesliga ace, Kepa latest

Chelsea are currently preparing to face Burnley in Saturday's Premier League fixture at Turf Moor.

The Blues will be looking to take all three points having won just twice in their opening six matches, against Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace.

Frank Lampard's side were victorious in midweek, beating Russian side Krasnodar 4-0 in their second UEFA Champions League group stage match.

They spent big during the summer transfer window and will be interested in adding more quality to their ranks when January arrives.

With the mid-season window quickly approaching, here are all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours and gossip currently hitting the headlines.

Blues eyeing Monchengladbach's Ginter

Matthias Ginter was reportedly a target for Chelsea over the summer, and it has been suggested that the club could engineer a move for his services in January.

The 26-year-old joined Borussia Monchengladbach in 2017 and has impressed with his performances in defence.

German outlet Kicker alleges that the Blues tried to tempt him to Stamford Bridge before the start of the season, and their interest is 'likely to have increased' given his stellar form this campaign.

Kepa urged to quit Chelsea in new year

Out-of-form goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga needs to leave west London in January, according to Spanish journalist Miguel Venegas.

The 26-year-old finds himself having dropped to second in the pecking order after the signing of Rennes stopper Edouard Mendy.

Venegas told Onda Cero that given Mendy's impressive form since joining, there is no longer a place for the Spaniard at Chelsea and that he should seek pastures new.

"It’s clear that since January they have taken him away and put in Willy Caballero instead," he said.

"It’s also striking that they’ve signed Edouard Mendy. It’s logical that he won’t end up on the bench so I suppose he’ll have to look for a way out."

Starlet Lawrence set to sign new deal

Teenage prospect Henry Lawrence is on the verge of penning a new three-year deal at the club.

The 19-year-old has regularly featured in the senior side's training sessions over the last couple of months and is highly regarded at Chelsea.

Goal.com's Blues correspondent Nizaar Kinsella tweeted on Thursday that confirmation of the news is expected within the next few days.

It remains to be seen whether Lawrence will be shipped out on loan in January in search of regular first-team football.
