Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Blues now frontrunners for Timo Werner, Pedro's choice of clubs

It could prove to be a busy summer for Frank Lampard and Chelsea, with the Premier League set to make its return next month.

A date of June 17 has been set for the action to restart, which could see the summer transfer window clash with the end of the campaign.

That means the Blues may have to do their business while they look to hold onto their spot in the top four, and there could be plenty of ins and outs.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip coming out of Stamford Bridge…

Werner boost

Inter Milan have confirmed RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner will not be joining the Serie A outfit this summer, providing a big boost to Chelsea.

Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio revealed the news, saying: "Timo Werner will not come to Inter. I know his opinion about the future of his career and I can say that we will not bring him to Inter.”

The news will come as a big boost to Frank Lampard, with the Blues linked with a move for Werner, who is also said to be attracting interest from Liverpool.

Ausilio also ruled out a move for PSG striker Edinson Cavani, who was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in January.

Roma and Juve battle for Pedro

Juventus are set to battle with Serie A rivals Roma for the signature of Pedro when the Spaniard’s contract runs out next month.

There is no currently no indication that the Blues plan to keep hold of the 32-year-old beyond his current deal, meaning the World Cup winner is set to become a free agent on June 30.

And, according to Italian publications Il Tempo and Calciomercato.com (via Mail Online), Juve have entered the race for Pedro’s signature.

Roma are also known to be interested in the winger, but Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri will hope his relationship with the Spaniard will help secure a deal.

Blues eye up Sancho alternative

Chelsea could make a move for Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze this summer should they fail in a bid for Jadon Sancho.

The Blues are reportedly battling it out with Manchester United for the Borussia Dortmund star, with the England international said to be favouring a move to Old Trafford.

Lampard may therefore have to find an alternative, with Chukwueze seemingly the most likely according to Football Espana after being heavily linked with a move away from Spain.

The Nigerian international was rumoured to be tracked by Liverpool last summer, and Villarreal are thought to be considering offers in the region of 50million euros for him.
