Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Aubameyang chase hots up, Dembele boost, defender linked

Chelsea will not resume their Premier League charge until the end of next month, at the very earliest, as the impact of COVID-19 continues to spiral.

With professional football suspended, an update from the FA on Thursday revealed that no matches will take place until April 30 – but the 2019/2020 campaign is set to be played to a conclusion.

As and when attentions do turn back to the close season, though, there is plenty of gossip as to what Frank Lampard will do next.

The most expensive Premier League transfers ever

Here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Aubameyang chase hots up

Chelsea will rival Manchester United for Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.

Aubameyang is about to enter the final year of his contract at the Emirates and as of yet, there has been no progress in a new contract being signed.

Arsenal are prepared to sell their prized asset, over fears of him leaving for nothing the following year, according to 90min.

The Blues are among teams keeping an eye on developments, with Lampard having made a striker his top priority when the window opens.

The Gabon international has 20 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions this season.

Agent reacts to Acerbi to Chelsea talk

Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

The 32-year-old has drawn interest from both the Blues and Italian side Inter Milan, according to reports in Italy.

Website La Lazio Siamo Noi now claim Acerbi’s agent in unsure over the validity of the rumour.

“Chelsea and Inter? I have read it, but I don’t know much about it. Certainly, Francesco is a defender who can play for any team in Europe,” Pastorello said.

Dembele transfer boost?

Chelsea could have been handed a boost in their pursuit of signing Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.

Lampard will reportedly look to strengthen his attacking options when the transfer window reopens, with competition for Tammy Abraham required.

Lyon have now changed their transfer policy on Dembele, according to 90min, after turning down a £34m from Chelsea in January.

The report claims Lyon are keen to convince Chelsea to pursue a deal for Dembele in the summer, and that could lead to the club selling Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud in the next window.

Dembele is having another prolific season, having scored 22 goals and got seven assists in 42 appearances.
