Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: £7.2m Anel Ahmedhodzic bid, Emerson Palmieri loan decision

Chelsea's summer transfer window saw over £200m spent by the club on seven new players.

Frank Lampard's new talents are still settling in at Stamford Bridge, but are beginning to show why the Blues spent the money that they did.

Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner were both on target for Lampard 's side in Thursday night's win over Krasnodar.

There could be even more business happening at Chelsea in the January transfer window, and here are the latest rumours.

Blues set to bid for defender

Chelsea are looking likely to bid for Malmo defender Anel Ahmedhodzic, according to Swedish publication Expressen.

Ahmedhodzic spent three years at Championship side Nottingham Forest, but only made one competitive appearance for the club.

However, since signing for Malmo in 2019, and spending last season on loan at Hobro IK, the 21-year-old centre-back has really showed his talents.

The Blues are set to offer the Swedish side €8m (£7.2m) for Ahmedhodzic, according to the report.

Blues would allow Emerson loan

Chelsea are willing to let defender Emerson Palmieri leave the club on loan, according to Area Napoli (via Sport Witness ).

Blues director Marina Granovskaia would allow Emerson to join Napoli, who are reportedly interested, on a "loan with an obligation of redemption".

The Italian left-back is keen to join the Naples-based side, but will be looking for a pay rise from his current salary at Stamford Bridge.

That could prove a stumbling block for Napoli, but Serie A rivals Juventus are also thought to be interested in the 26-year-old.

Smith on Barkley impact

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has heaped the praise on Chelsea's on-loan midfielder Ross Barkley.

Barkley moved to Villa from the Blues on a season-long loan and has already scored twice for his temporary team, but Smith may have hinted that he wants the 26-year-old to sign with his team on a permanent basis.

The Villa boss said: "He's someone I felt we needed. I look at the Premier League and you need legs in your midfield area because you've got to cover a lot of ground in a game - Ross does that.

"He's got ambitions to get into the Euro squad at the end of the season. With the quality Chelsea have got, they couldn't guarantee anyone minutes. His work ethic and attitude has been tremendous. He brings us that added bit of quality that we needed."
