It's Christmas Day and with football fans across the UK exchanging and opening gifts, Chelsea will feel like they've already unwrapped their own present ahead of the January transfer window.
The Blues were prevented from registering any new signings in the summer due to a two window transfer ban that was reduced to one window on appeal.
With that punishment having already been served before the season began they are now free to bring in new additions to Frank Lampard's squad in the first month of 2020.
Once Christmas is over attention will turn to getting those deals done as well as moving on any individuals deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues.
Premier League clubs will be battling it out for the top talent across the world and supporters drawn to the Stamford Bridge will be expecting business to be done.
The last player to officially join Chelsea as a permanent signing was Mateo Kovacic, although the Croatian was already at the club, having move to west London from Real Madrid on loan last season.
Lampard will now have the opportunity to assess whether he needs to make moves for any other players or problem positions in the market.
Chelsea would do well not to unsettle their side with too many new arrivals, however. They are on track for a top four finish and have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.
It may be a case of moving on those individuals unsuited to taking the next step under Lampard and replacing them with hungry recruits ready to kick on in the new year.
