Latest Chelsea transfer news: Blues scout £15m Atalanta star, battle to sign Soumare

With Chelsea safely through to the FA Cup fourth round, attentions have turned back to the January transfer market.

Goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley secured Frank Lampard's side a safe passage through on Sunday.

However, off the field, the transfer rumour mill is in full swing.

As well as Chelsea being linked with several marquee signings, players such as Olivier Giroud, Michy Batshuayi and Marcos Alonso are being touted for moves away for Stamford Bridge.

Here, we round-up all of today's latest transfer news surrounding Chelsea.

Frank Lampard on Olivier Giroud's future

Chelsea 'watch' Atalanta star

Chelsea are considering a swoop for Atalanta wing-back Robin Gosens, with reports claiming scouts were sent to watch him.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Blues have been tracking the 25-year-old, with the futures of Alonso and Emerson uncertain.

The German defender has spent two years with the Italina side, joining for £900,000 from Hercules, and is now rated at nearer the £15million mark by the Serie A side.

Gosens has played 15 games and scored five times in Serie A this term, taking his overall tally to 11 goals in 82 appearances.

Chelsea battle for Soumare

Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are all trying to sign Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare in the January transfer window.

The French midfielder anchor is likely to be sold this month, according to Sky Sports News.

Real Madrid and Valencia are also understood to be interested in the 20-year-old.

Soumare is the only one of Lille's stars likely to leave this season despite 21-year-old striker Victor Osimhen and 22-year-old centre-back Gabriel also being tracked by top clubs from across Europe.

Southampton eye Guehi deal

Southampton want to sign Chelsea youngster Marc Guehi on loan this month, according to The Mirror.

The Blues' youngster is seen as a potential temporary replacement for Jan Vestergaard, who looks set to depart the south coast club.

The ball-playing centre-back made his Chelsea debut in the 7-1 Carabao Cup thrashing of Grimsby Town earlier this season, with Frank Lampard pointing out that his “performance showed that he’s more than comfortable at this level".
