Latest Championship transfer rumours: Leeds target Argentine pair, Marshall to leave Wigan

The Championship season is reaching its business end, with matters still to be decided at both ends of the table.

The campaign though now has an added factor, with Wigan Athletic going into administration and facing up to a 12-point deduction.

That could have a big say on who stays up in the division this season, and could also have a big effect on this summer’s transfer business.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip from the Championship.

Leeds interest in Argentine pair

Leeds United are interested in signing Matias Zaracho and Lucas Martinez Quarta, according to reports in Argentina.

Marcelo Bielsa could look to use his knowledge of his homeland in order to strengthen his side for what he hopes will be a Premier League campaign next season.

And, according to Doble Amarilla in South America, Zaracho and Quarta could be his main targets.

Zaracho is a 22-year-old playmaker for top-flight Racing, and has been linked with a move to AC Milan, while Quarta plies his trade as a centre-back for River Plate.

Marshall free to join Celtic

David Marshall could be a step closer to a return to Celtic following Wigan’s confirmation the club have entered administration.

The goalkeeper is thought to be high on Neil Lennon’s wishlist as the Celtic boss looks for reinforcements between the sticks this summer.

With a deal for Fraser Forster now seemingly dead in the water, Marshall looks set to be their priority.

And, according to the Daily Record, Marshall could be one of a number of players involved in a fire sale at Wigan.

Baggies target Kosovo striker

West Brom are being linked with a move to sign Kosovo striker Vedat Muriqi, according to reports in Turkey.

Muriqi plies his trade in the country for Fenerbahce, and has established himself as a powerful forward who is also good in the air.

According to Turkish outlet A Spor (via Football League World), the Baggies are seriously looking at the forward, and making him their primary target for the summer window.

The report also stresses though that a deal can only be completed if West Brom are promoted to the Premier League.
