Latest Championship rumours: West Brom update in striker search, Millwall target Stoke City star

West Brom striker search

West Brom are stepping up their hunt for a new striker having made contact with Fenerbahce over Vedat Muriqi.

The Baggies have been consistently linked with a move for the Kosovan international in recent months and it appears that a deal for the striker could be edging ever closer.

Croatian manager Bilic is believed to have contacted Muriqi over a potential move and insisted that he wants to bring him to the Hawthorns next season, according to Turkish Newspaper Takvim.

West Brom are said to have made an official approach for the 26-year-old and that discussions between themselves and the Turkish giants are progressing well over a summer move.

Millwall want Woods deal

Millwall boss Gary Rowett has revealed the club would like to sign Ryan Wood on a permanent deal from Stoke City this summer.

Woods signed on loan at the Den in January, having been signed by Rowett for Stoke from Brentford initially.

He said: “Yes, yes I would (like to keep him). He’s a player that’s given us a bit more control of the ball.

“He’s such an intelligent footballer but he can also show the other side of the game which we know is important to our team and to our club.

“So he’s a player that I’d like to be here next season. We’re working incredibly hard behind the scenes with Alex [Aldridge, head of recruitment] and his team to try and make headway in terms of the conversations and the players we’ve targeted.”

Turkish giants chase Mounie

Trabzonspor are interested in signing Huddersfield Town forward Steve Mounie this summer.

Mounie has scored eight goals in 26 Championship appearances for Danny Cowley’s side this term, having drifted in and out of the team.

With only one year remaining on his contract at the John Smith’s Stadium, reports from Turkey claim that Mounie is wanted by Trabzonspor.

Fotospor say that Trabzonspor boss Huseyin Cimsir has given the green light for the club to sign Mounie, and it is also claimed that Huddersfield are keen to sell the striker this summer.
