Latest Championship rumours: Galatasaray join race for Taylor, Leeds United to sign Ayala

Football is finally back on the horizon with the Championship set to restart on June 20.

But the rumour mill has churned on in its absence, with plenty of rumours doing the rounds heading into the summer.

While there has also been talk of an extended window in order to give clubs the chance to do their business.

And with all that in mind, below are the latest rumours from the Championship.

Galatasaray join race to sign Taylor

Galatasaray have joined Rangers in the race to sign Charlton’s top goalscorer Lyle Taylor, according to the Daily Mail.

The 30-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of June, and Taylor is reluctant to play for the club again in case injury scuppers his chances of a move.

The Championship season is set to resume on June 20, and Charlton boss Lee Bowyer will be keen to field his best marksman as his side look to avoid relegation.

Speaking on the situation, Bowyer: “it’s difficult because he has a chance of making life-changing money. He may not get this chance again.”

Brewster to extend Swansea stay

Liverpool starlet Rhian Brewster is set to extend his loan stay at Swansea, according to BBC Sport.

Brewster’s current deal is due to expire at the end of June, but with the Championship expected to go on throughout the summer, the Welsh side are keen to have Brewster available for all of their final nine games.

Brewster has scored four goals in 11 appearances for the Swans since joining in January.

Swansea have already secured extensions for Newcastle keeper Freddie Woodman and Watford defender Ben Wilmot.

Leeds set to sign Middlesbrough defender

Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala is expected to join Leeds this summer on a free deal, according to Oneboro.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is believed to be preparing for the Premier League next season and the report says he is keen on Ayala.

Bielsa is also believed to have tried to sign the 29-year-old back in January before an injury put the brakes on any potential move.

Spaniard Ayala has made 29 appearances for Jonathan Woodgate’s side this season, scoring twice for the club.
